 | Swing Shift started up in 1993 as an informal community
group dedicated to keeping the Swing Era classics alive.
Derek and Wendy Milton directed for a short period -- followed
by Murray Hunter until 2003 when the baton passed to Monik
Nordine. Hunter returned to direct the group in June 2010.
|
 | The band's book includes many Swing Era charts drawn from
Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Glen Miller and Woody Herman, as
well as the work of more contemporary arrangers like Sammy
Nestico, Prez Prado and Hugh Fraser.
|
 | Swing Shift has played for several year's at the New Year's
Eve Dance at the Royal Canadian Legion on Salt Spring Island.
The big band has also performed in Wells, Saturna Island and at
several locations on Salt Spring Island. |
