About Us
The
concert band is a community band that welcomes musicians of all
ages. Now in its sixteenth season, the band was founded in
1992 with a small group of adult beginner woodwinds. This
nucleus extended a call for people in the community to dust off
instruments and form a community band. The initial group,
known as Bandemonium, was led by Wendy and Derek Milton, who
passed the baton to Dawn Hage in 1999.
 |
The band performs a wide repertoire ranging from
traditional band music to modern wind band works, symphonic
transcriptions to modern programmatic music. Our
current roster is 45 musicians who range in age from 11 to 70+.
|
 |
The season runs from September to June with an average of
six performances a year including concerts at ArtSpring, in
parks and a Canada Day show. The band rehearses on Monday
evenings at the Salt Spring Middle School. |
